  • Oklahoma Indigent Defense System — Cleveland County office

    State agency that provides court-appointed lawyers (public defenders) for people charged with crimes in District Court who cannot afford a lawyer. Its Non-Capital Trial office for Cleveland, Garvin and McClain counties is in Norman.

    OIDS says a defendant applies for court-appointed counsel by filing an application at the Court Clerk's office in the county where the case is filed, and that the judge decides whether to appoint a lawyer.

    This is criminal defense only, assigned by the court. OIDS lists a $40 application fee paid to the Court Fund, which can be asked to be deferred; confirm current details with OIDS or the Court Clerk. This listing is not legal advice.
