Bank
A company that holds deposits and makes loans. Many are FDIC-insured — check with FDIC BankFind.
Credit union
A member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative. You join to use it. Many are NCUA-insured — check MyCreditUnion.gov.
Brokerage
A company that lets you buy and sell investments such as stocks and funds. Investments can lose value.
Crypto exchange
A company that lets you buy and sell cryptocurrency. Crypto is not a bank deposit and can lose value quickly.
